About the event

Once a nonprofit board is functional, how can it move toward longer-term stability? What practices can boards utilize for good governance in the present, while simultaneously planning for the future needs of the organization?  And how do you achieve these goals while motivating board members and making their service rewarding?

Join us for an in-person session on board development that will explore how to take a nonprofit board to the “next level.” Be prepared to participate with other nonprofit leaders to consider how your board can solidify its achievements, build on its strengths, and work toward a future in which your organization can best serve its mission.

Our presenters:

Gene Davidov has been a volunteer at RSVP for 8 years working in the VEC program. Additionally, he has served on RSVP’s board of directors serving as chair of the Board Development Committee. Prior to his time at RSVP, he worked for 10 years with a Philadelphia-based non-profit followed by over 30 years working for a business corporation in various management roles.

Barbara Hirsh is a retired sociologist who spent her career of nearly four decades in leadership positions in nonprofit communal and educational organizations.  She now spends her time providing pro bono consulting to nonprofit organizations as a member of VEC; engages in multi-faith dialog and serves as a facilitator of workshops on civil conversations, through Interfaith Philadelphia; and is vice chair of the board of the Hillel Foundation at Temple University.
