Many things have changed for seniors over the years, but their desire to be independent and remain at home for as long as possible is vital for many. But many need a little help now and then.
RSVP’s Help On Call program (formerly Eldercare), developed in 1991 in response to a request from Montgomery County’s Office on Aging & Adult Services, provides volunteers who assist elders with shopping, errands, light home repairs, monthly bookkeeping, phone reassurance and transportation to and from appointments, while providing much needed companionship. Referrals come from Aging & Adult Services (as well as other social services agencies) and not directly from clients requesting services.

Help on Call enables volunteers to offer long term, short term, or even one-time assistance, such as providing transportation to an appointment. All volunteers can determine which assignment works best with their schedules.

These services play an integral role in helping many seniors and veterans remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
