Fun times await the special person who loves four- and five-year-olds! Do you have an hour or two each week to read to a class, to small groups or one-on-one? You can help children learn to love books while reinforcing their knowledge of letters, colors and numbers.
If you love reading and enjoy young children, If you are patient, caring and creative, please contact us and learn how you can share your love of books with deserving children.
Classroom Locations
There are 30 classes throughout Montgomery County including Lansdale, Norristown, Green Lane, Pottstown, Conshohocken, Abington, Souderton and North Hills
Hours
Once a week for an hour or two
Training
Meet with the Family Literacy coordinator to practice reading aloud and learn about Head Start.
Volunteer Qualifications
- Have a Love of interacting with children and understanding their needs and interests
- Be dependable, prompt and willing to maintain the confidentiality of the learner
- Be able to relate well to a variety of people
- Have good reading skills
- Be flexible, friendly, patient and optimistic
Responsibilities of Volunteers
- Complete monthly time reports
- Notify RSVP and Head Start of any permanent changes in your schedule
